Westchester County Genealogical Society Monthly Meetings

Regular monthly meetings are normally held from 10 A.M. (9:30 A.M. networking / social time) via zoom on the second Saturday of each month from September through June (no meeting in December).

Sep. 13, 2025 – Craig R. Scott, C.G., Quaker Records & Migration

Understanding Quaker research and migration involves knowing about the monthly meetings, the various types of meetings, the records they created, and their current locations. Quakers were inclined to move, and their reasons for doing so varied depending on the timeframe.

Craig Roberts Scott, MA, CG, FUGA is the President and CEO of Heritage Books, Inc., a genealogical publishing firm with over 10,000 titles in print. A professional genealogical and historical researcher for more than thirty-nine years, he specializes in records of the
National Archives, especially those that relate to the military. He has coordinated the Military tracks at IGHR, SLIG, and GRIP in years past. He is currently the Coordinator of the SLIG Consultation Track, helping students solve their brick wall problems.

Oct. 11, 2025 – Blaine Bettinger, Using Autosomal DNA for 18th and 19th Century Mysteries

Even though our 18th and 19th century ancestors have been dead for decades, their DNA still survives in their descendants. Learn how to use autosomal DNA to attack and potentially solve genealogical mysteries and brick walls for ancestors who were born or lived in the 1800’s, 1700’s, and beyond.

Blaine Bettinger, Ph.D., J.D., is a professional genealogist specializing in DNA evidence and the use of artificial intelligence for genealogical research. He is the author of the long-running blog The Genetic Genealogist, and frequently gives presentations and webinars to educate others about the use of DNA and artificial intelligence.

Jan. 10, 2026 – Ari Wilkins, Enslavement in the North and Gradual Emancipation

Slavery existed in some northern states well into the 19th century. Learn about how the motives for gradual emancipation; how it affected enslaved African Americans and enslavers at this time; the state laws surrounding slavery, and the records that it created.

Ari Wilkins, FTxSGS is a genealogist, lecturer and instructor who has been actively researching family history for over twenty-five years. Ms. Wilkins is a graduate of Louisiana State University. She speaks on a variety of genealogical subjects and specializes in African American research and Southern research. As a lecturer, Ms. Wilkins has spoken nationally at the National Genealogical Society, the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research, the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh, RootsTech, and a multitude of state and local societies. She has also led the African American course for the Texas Institute of Genealogical Research for the past three years.
